Melanie with Oreo, who knows how to strike a pose

Melanie grew up in Markham and always knew as a kid that she wanted to work in veterinary medicine someday. She started volunteering at the vet clinic her family took their soft-coated wheaten terriers to when she was just 14 years old, and got her first job as a veterinary receptionist and assistant when she turned 16.

Melanie graduated with honours from Seneca College’s veterinary technician program in 2016 before obtaining her RV accreditation that same year. She’s mostly worked with small animals, but has also worked with large animals, pocket pets, and even spent some time working in shelter medicine.

She has a 14 year old tuxedo cat named Lector who she met at Seneca College and just had to adopt, and dreams of owning a border terrier someday. She is our resident “Swiftie” and loves to read, play video games, and spend time in the Kawarthas with her parents* 2 wheaten terriers in her spare time.

Melanie has a soft spot for tuxedo kitties and scruffy-faced terriers like the ones she grew up with.
